RB Leipzig Cruises into Second Round of DFB Cup, Thrashes ZFC Meuselwitz 8-0

Leipzig Dominates from Start to Finish

RB Leipzig put on a scintillating display of attacking prowess, crushing ZFC Meuselwitz 8-0 in the first round of the DFB Cup on Saturday. The Bundesliga side controlled possession and peppered Meuselwitz's goal with 28 shots, 17 of which were on target.

Goals Galore for Leipzig

Emil Forsberg opened the scoring for Leipzig in the 19th minute, slotting home a clinical finish from inside the box. Timo Werner doubled the lead just 10 minutes later with a powerful strike from outside the area. Dani Olmo then made it 3-0 in the 36th minute with a stunning free-kick.

Leipzig continued their onslaught in the second half, with Werner scoring his second goal of the match in the 52nd minute. Forsberg then completed his brace in the 60th minute, tapping in a close-range finish after a superb cross from Olmo.

Substitute Yussuf Poulsen added to the rout in the 76th minute with a header from a Marcel Halstenberg cross. Dominik Szoboszlai made it 7-0 in the 82nd minute with a deflected effort, and Christopher Nkunku completed the scoring in the 89th minute with a composed finish.

Meuselwitz Outclassed

ZFC Meuselwitz, who play in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Nordost, were outmatched against the superior quality of Leipzig's squad. The Regionalliga side had only one shot on target throughout the match, which was easily saved by Leipzig's goalkeeper Janis Blaswich.

Leipzig's European Ambitions

The DFB Cup triumph marked a positive start to the season for Leipzig, who will be eager to make a deep run in the competition. They will also be hoping to challenge for the Bundesliga title and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
